The Man In The Glass

By Peter Dale Wimbrow Sr.
When you get what you want in you struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't you father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The felllow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring beack from the glass.
You may be like Jack Horner adn chisel a plum
And think you're a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please - never mind all the rest,
For he's with ou clear to the end.
and you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of yours
And get pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
if you've cheated the man in the glass.

Around the Corner

By Charles Hanson Towne

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friend's face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,

He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
and he rang mine but we were younger then,
and now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to mae a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet misles away,
"Here's a telegram sir,"... "Jim died today."
And that's what we get, and deserve in the end:
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Failure

By Tim Connor

Failure It's only a word.

But it carries with it so much pain
and so little concern
so much frustration
and so little respect,

so much stress and so little
understanding
that people spend their lives
running through their days

In the hop of avoiding the longe arm
of this little word.

To test our vision, you must risk
failure.

To temper you ego, you must attempt
the impossible.

To tell you story, you must take a chance.

To see beyond the horizon, you must
spread you wings.

to be all you can be, you must
stretch, flex, try, and go beyond
you proven limits.

Th bridge the sincence, you must risk
rejection.

To advance into the unknow, you must
risk the preril of all your
previous beliefs and emotions
that feel so secure.

Failure is not negative. It is a teacher.
It molds, refines, and polishes you
so that one day you light will
shine for all to see.

It isn't the failure you experience
that will determine you destiny,
but you next step and then the next
that will tell
the story of your life.

I Believe You Can Accomplish Anything You Choose

By Unknown
If You could see through my eyes
I wounder what you'd be feeling right now,
Because I can see you standing
As you really are -
Powerful, sensitive, determined, and gracious.
I can see you achieving everything you choose to achieve.
I can see you being exactly who and what you want to be.
Look through my eyes for an instant
And you'll see youself
Conquering all limitations.
Look through my eyes,
And see who you really are
And what you are capable of.
You can acomplish anything --
I know you can.

The Comfort Zone

By Unknown

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn't fail.

The same four walls and busywork were really more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching other win.
I held my breath; i stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt befor,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you're in a comfor zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make you dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile; Success is there for you!

THE WALL

By Anonoymous
The was this wall I built
It completely surrounded my heart
It protected me from getting Hurt again
And my world falling apart
It had made me cold and lonely
It had kept everyone out until now
You have been the only one able
to successfully break it down
Its construction started long ago
and once it starts, it's hard to stop
I hand built it thick and tall
All the way to the top
since I met you it has gradually fallen apart
You have opened my eyes and mind,
You set free my soul and heart

Inspirational Poems

May you find healing and encouragement for your soul as you read these poems
Introduction
Charles Ghigna once said, "Close you eyes and look inside, A mirror shines within; To find where
you are going, First see where you have been." At times we forget that life is a journey and may consider giving up and calling it quits. But with some encouragement or new inspiration we have the opportunity to reconsider our purpose in life and get back on our way.
Life is a journey everyone must travel. On our travels some of lifes experiences can cause us to become weary, discouraging and/or challenging. Along the way our spirit-man are injured, heart broken and our minds need to be refreshed and/or encouraged to persevere and quit. Inspirational Poems are encouraging, as well as inspiring.
In today's world we're living with diverse challenges. Most people are facing crisis and could use as much positive encouragement that can make a difference in the outcome of their day. These words of encouragement can help to distingish the difference between the forest from the trees or obstacles that obscure our vision and become hinderance.
My purpose for selecting these Poems in particular is to help to motive and encourage others so that theycan know it is OK to dream, to hope, and expect all that's good in life and not be afraid to face their fears. It is my hope that the audience could be encouraged or refreshed in their spirit, hearts, and minds.
